Our environmental management system is a continual cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing and improving the processes and actions that we undertakes to meet our business and environmental goals.

The main activities in 2008 include establishing energy and waste management processes in DNV offices. This include revisiting local travelling and driving policies so that more environmental friendly means are selected, including use of telephone and video conferences and environmentally friendly automobiles.

The impact on the environment is also to be considered in purchasing, contracting and subcontracting policies to give preference to suppliers with environmentally friendly processes and/or ISO 14001 certification.

In December 2008, DNV was awarded the ISO 14001 certificate after using significant resources both locally and centrally on the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
